Part I:

Instructions:

This assignment aims to strengthen your skills in sampling techniques and statistical analysis. You need to design a survey based on the quantitative sampling techniques discussed in class and collect data from relevant respondents. In your report, you need to explain your research question and the hypotheses. Then, you should elaborate on how you have made your questionnaire and its different sections. Finally, you need to discuss the development of the web-based survey, attach the actual survey, and explain the data collection method. Do not forget to reflect on the reliability and validity concerns as well. All these steps should be conducted academically, and the report should be mapped to an academic article. To this end, you can use the attached paper (or any other journal paper) as a benchmark to cover relevant parts of sampling and data collection in a paper. You also need to attach the collected data in SPSS format.

Part II:

Instructions:

This assignment aims to strengthen your skills in statistical data analysis. Conduct the following two examples using SPSS and class instructions. Use a Word document to insert your SPSS findings and interpret the results next to each table, similar to the format of an academic paper.

  • Using the Customer_dbase dataset, conduct descriptive statistics for the variable “Credit card debt” and interpret the results. As discussed in class, choose essential measures in SPSS options.
  • Using the Student_survey dataset, conduct an Independent T-test to investigate the following Hypothesis: Senior students spend more money on partying than Junior students. (Guide: you need to categorize “Year” variable into two categories, considering students in years 1 to 3 as Junior Student category and the rest as Senior Student category. Follow class instructions, and do not forget to test assumptions as well.

General guidelines:

  • The report should begin with a cover page with the research title and student name/IDs.
  • The word count for Part I is approximately 1000-2000 words, excluding references and appendices. There is no word count limit for Part II.
  • Use adapted diagrams and tables or ones you develop if you wish, and use subheadings clearly to indicate the structure of your work.

  • Show clear, organized structure, with sub-headings as appropriate
  • Quotations, tables, charts, diagrams, etc., must be clear and relevant.
  • Please submit all other files, e.g., dataset, data analysis, and Word files, in one zipped file via Blackboard.
