Assessment Task – what do I need to do?

You will complete a portfolio with variety of personal development activities and tasks, using the template provided.

You will complete the activities and tasks in the portfolio throughout the duration of the module.

Word Count – how many words do I need to write?

There is no specific overall word count, but you should complete the written entries in the portfolio with sufficient detail, explanation and examples, where appropriate.  You tutor will give you guidance.

Format – what format should I present my work in?

The PDP Portfolio Template is available to download as a Microsoft Word document in the PDP module in Aula in the Journey > Materials > Module Assessment section.

A cover sheet is included as the first page of the PDP Portfolio Template – please complete your details on this first page.

Deadline – when do I need to submit my assessment?

Friday 22nd July 2022, 10pm

Your completed portfolio  should be uploaded via the relevant link in the Assignments section of the PDP module in Aula.  Your tutor will give you guidance.

Assessment Purpose – what does this assessment test?

This assessment is related to the module’s Learning Outcomes:

  • L1. Develop the skills required to prepare for future careers
  • L2. Review knowledge of self, own practical abilities and task management skills
  • L3. Analyse personal strengths and identify areas for development

Assessment Criteria -how will I be assessed?

Your reflective essay will be assessed according to:

  • how comprehensive and relevant your written answers are in each section of the portfolio
  • demonstration of your level of self-reflection and self-evaluation in relation to your personal development and employability
  • spelling, grammar and vocabulary

Your tutor will give you further guidance.

Grade – how will my assessment be graded?

The grade for this assessment will be given as a percentage (the maximum grade is 100%).

Weighting:  what % of my overall grade for this module is this assessment?

The portfolio counts for 40% of the PDP module.

Pass Grade – what is the pass grade for this assessment and for the module?

The minimum pass grade for the PDP module is 40% overall (i.e. the weighted average of all module assessments), with no less than 30% in each individual assessment.

Any work that you submit must be your own and the use of sources must be referenced appropriately. 

Any work that is deemed to be plagiarised or not the student’s own work will not be marked and will not count towards the final module grade.  Any work found to be plagiarised may result in the student being suspended from the programme.

Please note that your work will be submitted via the Turnitin plagiarism detection software in Aula.

Referencing Sources – what referencing style should I use?

You should use the Harvard ‘Cite Them Right’ referencing style to reference all the sources of information that you refer to in your work.

Extenuating Circumstances – what if I can’t submit my assessment on time?

If you encounter circumstances that prevent you from submitting your assessment on time, you should speak to your Module Tutor or your Personal Tutor.
