Subject Description
This course is intended to teach the participants the various aspects of lighting and rendering within Maya. Participants will learn about the technical aspects of rendering, network rendering, maya lights, raytrace and raycast shadows, rendering in layers, render passes, compositing, as well as artistic aspects of lighting, including 3point lighting in depth, diffuse lighting, lighting sets and lighting single subjects. The course will also cover the use of Mental Ray as our primary renderer, including Sub Surface Scattering.

Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:
1. Design lighting based on the mood of a scene.
2. Light and texture a scene.
3. Create a lighting rig that can be used by many.
4. Render and separate an animated scene using render-layers.
5. Composite a scene with multiple layers, and render passes for each.
