INDCs implementation challenges for developing countries

The implementation of the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) will  be  a  challenging  process  for  most  developing  countries  especially  the conditional contributions. The 23rd  conference of the parties or COP 23, held in Bonn  in  2017  highlighted  these  challenges  and  laid  the  groundwork  for  key milestone talks scheduled for 2020.

The  outcome  of  the  conference  also  stressed  the  need  to  coordinate  efforts across planning, policy and investments to ensure maximum effect to boosting INDC actions

For  this  task,  you  are  required  to  write  a  2,500-word  report  on  one  selected INDC commitment from a non-OECD country of your choice analysing how the country will  implement  energy policy to  manage energy availability  and at the same time meet the INDC target. (LO2)

The  report  should  use  the  United  Nations  Framework  Convention  on  Climate Change  (UNFCCC)  Technology  Needs  assessment  framework  process  to highlight the factors affecting energy availability and the challenges to meet the chosen INDC commitment (LO1 and LO3)
