Task:
The company innovation director of a South Korean based manufacturing company KaiSmartTech, has approached your currently company (DigiSmartMano) which specialises in Innovative Digital Manufacturing and Factory Design. As a graduate Engineer your first task within the team is to design a plant layout/manufacturing cell. Your company head of digital manufacturing and design has provided you with plant layout examples as a guide as shown in figure 1 to 4. To be successful in this task, you are required to carry out a lot of research, be innovative and creative.
You are also presented with the following reasons that you are expected to select the ones that matches the problem that you want to solve. You are also presented with the following reasons that you are expected to select the ones that matches the problem that you want to solve. Reasons:
New product introduction
Changes in demand
Changes in product design
New machines
Bottlenecks
Too large buffers
Too long transfer times
You are required to carry out 3D factory design and modelling to required ISO and BSI standard according to outlined specifications using Visual Components factory design and simulation software if you are a student in CU Coventry and other Coventry University Group or any industry standard CAD package/software for other non CU Group site.
