The assessment aims to provide an opportunity to critically discuss current issues within the EU. Guidelines given by tutor:
1. Clarity of the aim and focus of the essay
Is there an introduction? Does the introduction provide a clear outline of the aim and focus of the essay? Are conclusions/policy recommendations offered in the introduction?
2. Consideration of the themes and ideas that are pertinent to the issue under consideration
Are contemporary issues and themes used? Does the essay address a wide range of issues? Are they justified in their importance?
3. Use of relevant data, charts and diagrams
Are statistics/charts used to support the analysis? Is the range of data credible? Is the data explained? Does the data relate to the topic?
4. Evaluative discussion and critical analysis
Is there a critical discussion of the topic? Is there a link to theories? Are conclusions offered? Are they clear? Reasoned? Grounded in the analysis? Are the policy recommendations justified?
