What you should do:

Identify a service user/patient with whom you have worked

Focus on an aspect of the service user/patient’s need for nursing care

Think about the five components of the module

Suggested structure: 

Introduction (250 words)

Outline where you are working. Outline your particular service user/patient.

Main body (1,500 words)

Be explicit about your work with the service user/patient. Write about each of the 5 components of the module.

Conclusion (250 words)

Outline what you have learnt.

General advice:

Ensure that you engage with all 5 components of the module

Ensure that you discuss the underpinning theory by engaging with relevant resources in relation to all 5 areas of the module content

You can provide a summary of the selected service user and practice setting before moving on to the main body of the essay

Even if the chosen events/case study happened while in a different role, you must write your essay from the point of view of a student nurse

Consider the quality and relevance of the evidence used to support your work

Ensure that you apply referencing guidelines accurately
