Please note that this oral presentation will take place in person during the weeks beginning 9th   and 16th December 2024.  You will be provided with the date and of your individual presentation slot.

Note: The Oral presentation is a scheduled exam.  If you do not attend your individual presentation slot this is treated as a failed assessment. If you have any valid mitigating circumstances that mean you cannot attend your individual presentation slot, you will need to apply online, via MyUCLan with your evidence. Prohibition of AI Usage in Assessments

This is a reminder that the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and software in any form is strictly prohibited in all assessments, including exams, quizzes, courseworks and all other assessments.

Key Points:

  1. No AI Tools: Do not use AI tools, including (but not limited to):  ChatGPT, Grammarly (any version), QuillBot or any other software that generates or enhances content.
  2. Original Work: All work submitted must be your own original creation. Plagiarism or using external tools to complete your assessments is a violation of the Academic Integrity Policy.
  3. Consequences: Any student found using AI tools in assessments will face a formal academic misconduct hearing, and subsequent consequences may include : failing the assessment, receiving a grade reduction, or further academic sanctions.  It may also be a professional body requirement that proven instances of academic misconduct are disclosed to them in order to ascertain your character and suitability to practice in the law or other fields of employment.
  4. Exceptions: The only exception to this prohibition of AI is for those students who have a documented recommendation from Inclusive Support that specified AI tools can be used.

Presentation Instructions

This presentation has 2 parts:

Part 1: PowerPoint slides:

You are required to produce a set of PowerPoint slides (no more than 8 slides).

The subject of the PowerPoint presentation is as follows:

A critical analysis of negotiation as a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). 

You may wish to include the following areas:

  • A definition of negotiation
  • An outline of key strategies
  • Barriers to effective negotiation

You must submit your PowerPoint slides on Turnitin no later than 24 hours beforeyour presentation slot.

For the structure of your PowerPoint presentation you should consider:

  • An introduction to your presentation.
  • The main body of your presentation (your discussion of the topic)
  • Overall conclusion to your presentation.
  • List of references (OSCOLA style)

Part 2: Presentation:

You are required to present your PowerPoint slides.

You will be provided with a date and time for your presentation slot. 

You will be called on Teams by your Tutor at the time of your presentation slot. 

The presentation will be recorded.

The length of the presentation is up to 10 minutes.  Your tutor will then ask you some questions on your presentation.

Please note that the time and date of your presentation cannot be changed and failure to attend will result in a failed submission for this assessment.
