ASSIGNMENT:
The assignment will be split into three separate reflections as outlined below:
Section 1 – 1500 words - using a reflection model write on:

This Reflective portfolio will be written at academic level 7.
* Importance will be placed to ensure your work is written at the appropriate academic level 7, demonstrating criticality, analysis and synthesis within your academic work.
* Entire Reflective Portfolio will be underpinned by appropriate and relevant academic literature.
* All referencing should adhere to HSK Referencing guidelines.
* Please refer to the Marking Grid to ensure you have included all the relevant elements that the marker will ensure when marking and allocating your final mark for your submission.
* In all sections, the reflections must include examples from placement whilst working as a student nurse at the University
Patient, family, staff and organisational confidentiality must be maintained throughout.
Additionally, any reflection that includes an example where the NMC Code/policy/good practice is breached must include a statement that the issue was escalated to management and dealt with appropriately, if this statement is not included the assessment will automatically fail.
Reflections may be written in first person. When demonstrating learning from reflection or actions for future practice, academic evidence should be included in support of this.

* Critically reflect on your experience when working within a clinical area as a student nurse. Critically analyse the events that you witnessed or were involved in.
* Remember to use criticality rather than descriptions when writing about what happened.
* What was positive or negative about that experience
* What could have been done differently, linking to appropriate academic evidence
* Critically reflect how learning from this experience will help develop and influence your future decisions and future clinical practice
* Remember to include academic evidence in your discussion related to the topic.

* The description for each section of the assignment should be factual, in your own words.
* The scenario must relate to the topic you have chosen.
* The scenario should not contain your views as to why something happened. Do not start the sentence by… “in my opinion…”,
* The scenario should not include any citations (supporting evidence)
* The scenario should include how YOU felt in relation to what happened.
* Please do NOT undertake reflection on a scenario related to your family situation.

Tip-4 Research and presenting your evidence
* First undertake research before you start writing
* Know your topic for each section.
* Choose evidence that is relevant and recent.
* If you cite something that is dated, explain why this is included in your work, (justify why you used that material) e.g. seminal piece of work etc)
* Choose multiple sources of evidence to paraphrase from, ensuring you cite multiple authors. This will help demonstrate the depth and breadth of your wider reading and research
* Do not accept any author at face value
* Critical discussion should aim to include different views
