The pass mark for M (level 7) modules is 50%, with the Practice Assessment Document (PAD) being a Pass or Fail. There are only two attempts allowed at each component of a module unless extenuating circumstances accepted. A second fail can therefore lead to termination of your degree programme. There is no compensation between components of a module, and all parts need to be passed to complete the module, and to gain an overall mark. Please consult the assessment information in your handbook and on canvas for further information about submission, processes, and sources of support for your academic work and wellbeing. |

Assignment aim |
This assessment requires you to critically reflect on your own leadership styles and identify areas for your own development, in readiness for transition to a newly qualified nurse within an interdisciplinary environment. . You will write a 3000-word essay that will be divided into two main sections: Personal Development Plan (PDP) - 500 words You will identify a maximum of 3 key areas for your growth and development as a leader within the nursing profession, justifying the importance of these areas in relation to the role you aim to undertake in the future. This personal development plan should be grounded in your self-reflection and provide a clear strategy for how you intend to address your development needs. Critical Reflection on Leadership Styles and Team Dynamics - 2500 words This section will be a justification of the needs identified in your PDP, using critical reflection, evidence-based practice and using evidence to explore these needs further. You will critically evaluate and reflect on your own leadership style(s), the application in nursing practice, and how it may impact team dynamics within an interdisciplinary care environment. You will critically explore the effectiveness of your leadership approach in ensuring safe, quality care, and how this impacts the professional development of others, including the management and supervision of staff and peers. This should include a consideration of how your leadership supports collaborative care, and your role in fostering positive team dynamics and a shared vision for patient care. Your work should be underpinned by relevant academic literature on leadership, team dynamics, and the management of care within an interdisciplinary environment. Ensure that your argument is balanced and draws upon both your personal experiences and theoretical frameworks. Consider and discuss how you manage your own learning and professional development, particularly in the transition to registered nursing practice. Reflect on how you supervise, support, and develop others in the healthcare environment. This includes both peers and junior staff members, and your role in fostering a culture of continuous professional development. |

General guidance for writing at level M (7) |
It is expected that at this level you are able to structure your written work. At level M your writing will be proficient with fluent, well presented arguments that demonstrate clear application of theories and concepts. Read widely – the breadth and depth of literature presented will aid problem solving and the development of some originality through analysis and application of thinking. This can be drawn from wider disciplinary literature as well as from the body of nursing knowledge. Select the content that will help you to address the assignment task. Make sure everything you include is relevant. Demonstrate a systematic and logical approach in developing and debating your ideas so that the argument is clear to the reader. |
