FORMATIVE Assignment

Base your 500-formative essay on the principles below: Submit via TURNITIN on the M11901 Blackboard site by 3pm Monday 6^th April if you are submitting in May. If you are submitting in July, submit in April anyway to get some feedback.  Later dates for the FORMATIVE submission for the July submission date will be announced later but will be most likely in MAY!

Content

Clearly identify your approach to person-centred capacity assessment to assess the individual needs of the patient within the scenario. Use a minimum of 6 references, one using a paraphrase, one a summary and one a quote. Choose at least 6 different sources, at least one: 

• journal article or book
• government, department of health or NHS source
• online source.

This approach will assist you in developing academic literacy and encourage you to learn about paraphrasing and summarising appropriately

LAYOUT

Develop a sentence that states the scenario you are using, reference a capacity model or process but focus on the verbal, non-verbal and interpersonal skills. If you have amended your scenario and given the patient some symptoms or communication issues that need to be address it will naturally make you analyze the issues more deeply. This formative essay is bout using communication skills and referencing, more than capacity assessment.

Then using one or 2 of the principles of assessing capacity, demonstrate how you would amend your communication approach based on the client’s symptoms or diagnosis. You will have more space in the 2500 essay to demonstrate understanding of the principles of MH nursing.

Use a subheading if you want but you only have 2 pages or so for this 500 words. You don`t need an introduction other than the sentence above. You don`t need a summary for this essay.
