Bethany Price

Senior Python Coursework Specialist

Education: BSc Computing with Python (University of Leicester)

Experience: 6 years, 400 projects completed

Bethany spends most of her time on first-year and foundation-level Python work. These are usually weekly exercises, small assessments, or end-of-term tasks that ask for simple programs with clear output. When she receives a task sheet, she checks how many marks are attached to each part and then plans the solution around that, so nothing is left out by mistake.

Instead of writing long, clever scripts, she keeps things short and tidy. She prefers clear loops, basic functions and straightforward logic that a beginner can explain to their tutor. Where comments are needed, she writes them in plain student-style English, not in technical jargon. If the module uses Jupyter, she lays out the cells so that each question has its own section, which helps students when they upload their work to the VLE.

Bethany is also careful with small details that lose marks, such as input messages, print formatting and following the exact wording of the question. Her aim is that a student can open the file, read it slowly once, and feel confident about what each part is doing.
