You are required to find a news article (newspaper, online, etc.)

Must be about a current social issue, or social problem that is relevant to the social work

This is start point of your research and will help you to identify relevant journal articles and at least one social policy that related to your topic.

Current Issues could be Poverty in The UK (Linked to Universal Credit),  Gender Workplace Diversity, Homelessness: a shortage of adequate accommodation, or a threat to society?

Once you have identified your issue, you will need to draw from your article to create a list of keywords or search terms to help you identify social policy that is relevant to your chosen social problem.

This will require some analytical thinking in order to develop your research skills.

• You will conduct searches on your topic based on your library guidance sessions, and include an annotated bibliography of at least five relevant articles that you have found and you are to identify at least one social policy that related to it.
• You are expected to document this preliminary exploration on your topic.

Task 4 Write up should include:

a.) A brief summary of your topic, including why you chose this particular social problem, and its relevant to the module;

b.) Identify a current social policy that you have identified and describe how it relates to your social problem

c.) Include details of the sources that you used, and what, if any, challenges you had in locating material on your topic

d.) Include an annotated bibliography of your journal articles, along with your research template listing your search terms and databases used
