Assignment 2:  Guidance

Subject: Research a contemporary issue in Healthcare provision and make a series of justified recommendations for its resolution.

Process: 

Reflecting on the areas covered in this module decide which has caught your interest and would benefit from further study/research

Break down the subject into key words

Produce a mind map of key words, areas, and concepts

Expand these key words and start to build up a research topic plan

Consider a ‘working title’ to keep you on target

Research relevant academic and research data and record summary of findings

Build paragraphs to address and review the topics/sub-topics

Produce a rough draft; review and amend until you are happy with the final draft

Proofread to check grammar, spelling and ensure all citations and references are correctly included

Add page numbers, your name and unique identifier and submit before the deadline!

Format:

Title:  Review your initial title as you progress; to keep you inline as you develop the essay.  At the end review again, does it accurately describe the content?  Does it include the action, the process, the location and the time period (if relevant)

Abstract: Summarise in 200 words, in the past tense, what you did, why you did it and what you found (this is in addition to the 2000 words of the essay)

Introduction: Clarifies the task. It will set the scene, describe the areas covered in the subsequent paragraphs, define the key terms, summarise the topics and what theories/sources of evidence were used

Discussion: This is the body of the essay where you need to discuss the topics/sub-topics, develop your arguments, and build the paragraphs following the sequence outlined in the introduction.

Conclusion and Recommendations:  Here you need to summarise your results, consider the options generated by your research into the issue, compare and review the evidence and make a recommendation of how these might be used to resolve the contemporary issue you have investigated.
