Submission deadline date and time
This assessment is worth 100% of the overall module mark.
The submission deadline is - by no later than 16:00. Any submission received after 16:00 (even if only by a few seconds will be considered as late).
For coursework assessments only: students with a Reasonable Adjustment Plan (RAP) or Carer Support Plan should check your plan to see if an extension to this submission date has been agreed.
How to submit
You should submit your assessment using the BB submission tool. The exact content will depend on your digital artefact. You are able to submit multiple files if you have included elements such as video, animation in your work. If your submission is a website you should include the URL and also a pdf showing the pages on the date of submission.
Students will also attend a presentation session on - where they will show their artefact and answer questions about it. The schedule for this will be provided on Blackboard.
You should include a statement identifying any Generative AI tools that have been used in your work.
Assessment task details and instructions
This assessment is a piece of research identifying an innovative technology solution to a business problem. Your solution should use one or more technologies selected from the module topics. The business problem that you select may be one of your own choosing, or one that is related to those we have discussed in the taught sessions:
Healthcare applications
Manufacturing and the supply chain
Sport
Educational applications
The work should be presented as a digital artefact which is either:
A Website or
A Research Poster
You should be creative in your work and are encouraged to include at least one of the following to illustrate your research and / or solution:
Infographic
Short Animation – this can be developed using Generative AI
Short video – you can shoot this using your phone
Generative AI image e.g. from Midjourney Guidance on these is provided in the seminar sessions.
What should be included?
Introduction that sets out the problem that you are addressing
Explanation of the technology that is used in your solution.
Overview of how your solution works – you can show this e.g. via a user or customer journey, or using a video or animation.
Customised digital maturity model, and explanation of how your solution is an innovative approach to digital transformation in your problem area.
Summary / conclusion that draws together the key points from your work
Reference list
Statement identifying any Generative AI tools that have been used in your work
How Much Content is Required?
As this is a digital artefact we do not specify an exact word count but the amount of effort should be the same as writing a 2500 word assignment.
Posters should be sized for A1 or A0. A template will be provided on BB for you to use if you wish
Websites should include a section for each of 1-7 above, although it is up to you how this is structured in terms of pages.
It is crucial to evidence your reading and research to include a wide range of citations from within your digital artefact, which match to a references section at the end of your artefact using APA 7th reference format.
Please make use of the draft Turnitin area and check your Turnitin score to make sure that your work is original work and correctly reference
Assessment Criteria
You should look at the assessment criteria to find out what we are specifically looking at during the assessment. You should also review the L6 Grade Descriptors at the end of this document which outline expectations for marks in each band.

25%
Innovative Solution
Is the solution clearly explained?
A customized version of the Digital Maturity Model should be included together with an explanation of how your solution is innovative and supports digital transformation for the problem area. A digital transformation roadmap explaining what is needed for the solution to happen in your chosen context could be useful here.

Artefact Design and Presentation
Is the work professionally presented, well structured and academically driven? There should be a professional writing style with no spelling or grammar errors.

It is a requirement that your Digital Artefact includes a statement of Generative AI usage which identifies the tools you have used and which elements of the artefact this relates to. Where appropriate you should also provide a record of prompts and responses; if you are unsure about this please discuss with your tutor in class.

Assessment Information and Support
There is no specific word count for the digital artefact, but you should demonstrate equivalent research to writing a 2500 word report. It requires skill to present your research this way - the appraisal and selection of important information and the ability to summarise key points and present information visually are more important than just presenting lots of words, and you will need these skills when working in a business environment. You should NOT simply write an essay that is pasted into a poster format.
Note that the module overall requires 100 hours of student input, and this assignment is 100% of the assessment.
At the presentation session you will be required to talk us through your work and answer questions about the content and how you created it.
You can expect to receive initial feedback in the presentation session and your formal feedback will be provided via BB 15 working days after the presentation.
Formative feedback will be provided in seminar sessions – you will be asked to discuss your assignment work and are encouraged to bring draft content to class for review
Students are expected to learn and demonstrate skills associated with good academic conduct (academic integrity). Good academic conduct includes the use of clear and correct referencing of source materials. Here is a link to where you can find out more about the skills which students need:
Academic integrity & referencing Referencing
Academic Misconduct is an action which may give you an unfair advantage in your academic work. This includes plagiarism, asking someone else to write your assessment for you or taking notes into an exam. The University takes all forms of academic misconduct seriously.
