5. Module Description
This module aims to explore social work and multi-agency practice interventions applicable to working with children, families and adults in need and at risk of harm. Students will examine how these are informed by theory, research and the voices of children and adults. Knowledge of inquiries and serious case reviews inform learning and concepts of prevention and protection are central themes to the module. Understanding thresholds and the application of professional judgement underpin best-practice models.

This assessment will provide you with the opportunity to evidence your ability to apply knowledge of research, theory, legislation, policy and practice guidance with regards to effective safeguarding practice . You will draw on a serious case review that adopts an holistic approach to safeguarding both adults and children. LO1: Analyse and demonstrate understanding of effective social work and multi-agency interventions in work with children and adults in the context of both need and risk and from a human rights perspective.
Make sure you discuss current contemporary social work practice issues within safeguarding and what positive changes have been implemented in to contemporary social work practice that were recommended within your chosen serious case review.

Pass (50%-59%)
A critical synthesis is required in relation to effective social work and multi-agency interventions and safeguarding of adults and children. An analyses of social work practice approaches within a context of need and risk and a framework of anti-oppressive practice. Engaging critically with legislation, policy and practice guidance relating to harm and the safeguarding of children and adults. Applying principles of human rights and social justice to the safeguarding of children and adults. Reflections will be evident. Research demonstrating use of a range of current secondary research sources will be demonstrated. Referencing and English will be satisfactory and meet the standard presentation assessment criteria. Satisfactory reference list that meets the minimum requirements ( see below).
Fail (Below 50%): Students who do not meet the requirements of the Pass criteria will not successfully complete the assessment activity.
Minimum Secondary Research Source Requirements:
Level HE7 - It is expected that the Reference List will contain between fifteen to twenty sources . As a MINIMUM the Reference List should include four refereed academic journals and five academic books.
