You can choose which policy area and social group to write about but they have to be amongst those explored in the lecture/seminar programme as explained above in this handbook.

 

 

 

Your essay should include:

 

1. An Introduction section, clearly signposting the content, the policy and social group choices, how the essay is going to link them together and the impact of global processes.

2. A Theoretical Perspective section, in which one theoretical perspective associated with globalization debates you have selected to try and make sense of the government policy.

3.  A Policy section, which critically evaluates the policy and considers how it relates to the social group. Has the policy changed over time as a result of globalization? What are the implications of this for practitioners and service users ‘on the ground’ ?

 

4.  A Social Group section, which analyses the impacts of globalization on the lives of members of the social group – where the global meets the local.

 

5. A Conclusion – where you draw together the main themes of your essay.

 

6. A References list – with a minimum of 15 reference list
