CIE6004/CAS6007 INTERDISCPLINARY PROJECT -2018/19
With the shutdown of the ‘old’ Wylfa Nuclear Power Plant (WNPP) in 2015, a new compact and self-sufficient nuclear power plant, to be called Compact Wylfa Nuclear Plant (CWNP), needs to be built around that area. Identify a suitable four/five sided-area (between 22500 – 32500 sq.m (2.25 - 3.25 hectares)) within the Wylfa Newydd Power Station Site (WNPSS) to construct the compact modern power plant. CWNP should have all the necessary structures/components of a nuclear plant that will allow it to function independently. Assume the existing conditions to be the same as when WNPP was just shut down and no other structures/power plant have been built.
1.1.1 The Wylfa Newydd Power Station Design and Access Statement (Power Station DAS) was prepared to set out the process of design evolution for the operational development within the Power Station Site.
1.1.2 The development of the remainder of the Wylfa Newydd Development Area (WNDA) is outside the scope of this brief.
1.1.3 The geography of the two areas are shown on Figure 1-2 and defined as:
• Power Station Site: the indicative areas of land and sea (146 hectares) within which to site CWNP which may include Power Station, Cooling Water System and other on-site development
