The Task
1) Choose a Start-Up business of your choice (Sole trader, partnership, private limited company etc.)
2) Think about how to make that business functional.
3) Identify the type of business (start-up) it will be.
4) Gather the necessary internal and external information for accurate planning, decision making and control of resources.
5) Use Business Models and Theories such as PESTLE and Porter’s Five Forces to analyse key factors (at least 3) that influence / support your organisation’s business decisions.
Detailed Instructions
This Individual Report requires that you demonstrate understanding in LO1 and LO4 (learning outcomes). To complete your task, you are required to choose a Start-Up business of your choice which you are going to make functional in near future. (For example, sole trading, partnership, private limited company etc.) Once you identify the type of Start-Up, business which you are going to make operational in near future.
Determine what type of internal and external information is required by your chosen business for planning, decision-making and control purposes.
Use business models such as PESTLE and Porter Five Forces framework to analyse the key factors (at least 3) that influence your organisation and how those will support business decisions.
Feel free to use and expand upon business plans which you may have already developed from Assessment 1.
This assessment is an individual report weighting at 60% and follows learning outcomes: LO1, LO4 as seen in the Module Study Guide:
LO1 - Recognise different types of business organisations.
Example: You will identify what type of business your start-up is. Knowing the business type will help you determine how to make that company functional through a business plan and determine what decisions to make.
LO4 – Demonstrate an awareness of the relationship between an organisation and its business environment.
Example: Apply the most suitable business models, such as PESTLE and Porter’s Five Forces to gather external and internal information, helping you recognise key factors in the business environment that effect your start-up.
