Organization Overview

Netflix, Inc. is a global entertainment company based in Los Gatos, California. It operates in the digital media and entertainment industry, offering streaming services to over 230 million subscribers worldwide. Originally founded in 1997 as a DVD rental service, Netflix transformed its business model in 2007 by entering the streaming market. Since then, it has become a leading content creator and distributor. The company relies heavily on digital infrastructure to deliver content seamlessly across the globe.

Challenges

Before moving to the cloud, Netflix faced several technical and operational challenges. One major issue was scalability, the company`s data centres could not handle the growing demand, especially during peak hours or when new shows were released. Their infrastructure often crashed, which negatively impacted customer experience and brand reputation.

Additionally, Netflix was operating in a highly competitive market with companies like Amazon Prime, Disney+, and HBO Max. Any downtime or delays could result in customer loss and reduced profitability.

Solution
