What are the advantages of bilingualism?
Requirement Assignment 6
Bilingualism
Many of the University students are bilingual, i.e., they speak fluently in at least two languages (one of them English, obviously). Other than the possibility of communicating with more people from more areas, bilingualism has been associated with several potential advantages and disadvantages.
As an example, if your children are bilingual, you might find that they often mix both languages when they speak, especially at very young ages, but, is this a handicap to their psychosocial development? Or does it facilitate other cognitive processes? For this week`s discussion, you are required to find a scientific study where either benefits or disadvantages are reported and to critically analyse its arguments.
