Module Aims and Objectives

The intended learning outcomes are that on completion of this module the student should be able to:

1. Justify the importance of public health nutrition interventions from a national and international perspective.
2. Critically analyse public health nutrition programmes, the evidence and theory behind their development and implementation.
3. Critically evaluate the roles and influences of stakeholders within public health programme development and implementation.

Coursework 1:

Coursework 1: 2500 word report (70% of the final mark).

Write a 2500 word report on public health initiatives that could be implemented to improve nutritional status/nutritional health related outcomes in those aged 65 years and above, at risk of malnutrition in the United Kingdom. This report should utilise national (e.g. current public health initiatives in the United Kingdom) and international public health initiatives related to malnutrition, to inform the recommended initiatives for your chosen area of the United Kingdom.

The report should contain:

1. An executive summary

2. A brief outline of the public health concern of malnutrition in your chosen area of the United Kingdom

3. A critical appraisal of national and international public health initiatives to inform your proposed initiatives

4. A detailed outline of the proposed initiatives including key stakeholder roles
